Why is Esports a Trend?
The trend I will be discussing is esports. Esports is also known as electronic sports. Individuals who follow Esports know how competitive and organized the gaming is. Competitors from different leagues or teams compete in the same games that are popular with at- home games. Some of the popular games are Fortnite, League of legends, Call of Duty and Madden NFL.

Esports is a fast- growing international phenomenon with millions of people who follow the movement. Streaming services like YouTube, twitch and live events have turned casual gamers into stars. Professional gamers who post games can make up to seven figure earning and have brands endorsements.

Esports has been around since the 90’s. However, there has been a significant increase in the number of viewers that watch. Professional players are competing at events all over the world. Major League Gaming and Evolution Championship are two big organizations that are putting on events in American with thousands of fans spectating. With these organizations have had a big success many Esports titles have begun hosting their own tournaments and leagues.
Why is it important for future Leisure Professional to Understand Esports?
Esports is ever growing. With the advances in technology and new video games coming out every year fans are investing their time in tournaments to watch their favorite gamer. Riot Games went through a lengthy process to prove that League of Legends is a sport to the United States Government. As of today, the government recognizes League of legend players to be professional athletes and is giving visas to international residents to work in the united states under that title. With trend on the rise, I do not believe that it popularity will fade out within the next ten years.
